"Enter into children's play and you will

find the place where their minds, hearts,

and souls meet." - Axline

I believe that we all might benefit from therapy at one time or another in our lives, but trusting someone with our innermost thoughts and feelings can be a difficult and scary step to take. That is why I believe the therapeutic relationship is so vital to the healing process and should be focused on throughout the duration of the therapy.

In my work with children I have found that a powerful way to connect with them is through play. Play helps children communicate what is bothering them at a developmentally appropriate level when they are unable to use verbal language to express their thoughts and feelings. Utilizing play therapy with children also helps me to build a positive relationship with them thus enhancing the therapeutic process.

My Mission:
To work with the community and surrounding areas to promote positive mental health for all people in a collaborative and friendly environment. I am committed to meeting the specific needs of each client through empirically based interventions. Building upon the individuality and strengths of each person enhances his or her ability to achieve growth throughout the therapeutic process. My goal is to provide each individual with a safe therapeutic space in which to enhance their strengths thus enabling them to develop a healthy mind, body, and spirit. By doing so, each person will be better equipped to cope with the many challenges faced in today's world. I am committed to maintaining the high quality of my services by focusing on continuing education in the latest therapeutic techniques as well as peer supervision.

I earned a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University/Washington, DC in 2004. I completed all licensure requirements in 2006. I was originally licensed in Pennsylvania and have been licensed in New York state since my family and I moved to the Mohawk Valley in 2009In working with clients, I take an integrative approach to psychotherapy, using a variety of interventions and techniques, depending on the client's presenting issues and needs. I utilize non-directive and directive play therapy techniques in my work with children and adolescents including puppet play and art. I am currently in the process of completing requirements for a certification in play therapy.
